A new strap can change the watch you already own more than you expect. A black dial on brown leather feels warm and traditional; the same watch on blue rubber looks ready for a different kind of day. The best choice starts with fit, then moves to material, colour and hardware.
Our selection of new Gruppo Gamma straps brings together Italian leather in side-stitch and box-stitch designs, selected XL versions, and five colours of 22 mm FKM Tropic rubber. Here is how to narrow the choice to a strap you will actually enjoy wearing.
Meet the new strap selection
The selection covered here comprises 11 leather models and five FKM Tropic colours. Leather offers a choice of 22 mm and 24 mm models; the five Tropic straps in this selection are 22 mm. Colour, length and stitching options vary by width, so start with your watch reference rather than choosing a photograph first.
For current availability, browse Mi-Watch straps and accessories or ask us about a particular colour and size. A model described in this guide is not a promise of immediate stock.
Italian leather: side stitch or box stitch?
The leather range uses vegetable-tanned Italian cowhide. Beyond colour, the most useful visual distinction is the stitching. It changes how much detail sits beside the watch case and how traditional the whole combination feels.
Side-stitch leather for a restrained finish
The 22 mm side-stitch options include black, blue and mustard, plus a light-brown XL version. The small accents of stitching leave much of the leather surface uninterrupted. Choose this style if you want the dial and case to remain the main focus.
Black is an easy starting point for a quiet, coordinated look with a black dial. Blue adds colour without the stronger contrast of orange. Mustard creates a warmer combination with steel and can work well with cream-coloured markers. These are styling suggestions: the most useful comparison is with the clothes and watch you already wear.

Box-stitch leather for a stronger vintage character
The box-stitch design adds a more pronounced stitched shape near the lugs. The 22 mm choices include teal, light brown, orange and brown. The 24 mm selection includes brown in standard and XL versions, plus light brown.
Brown is a versatile place to start if this will be your main leather strap. Teal or orange makes more sense when you want a deliberate change from a neutral strap you already own. Box stitching can also echo the purposeful appearance of a large tool-watch case without changing the watch itself.
Leather will develop signs of use. If you enjoy a strap that acquires its own appearance over time, that can be part of the appeal. If your routine frequently involves water, consider keeping leather for dry use and choosing a suitable rubber strap for those other occasions.
FKM Tropic rubber: five colours, one clear size specification
The Tropic selection comes in white, red, grey, green and blue. Its basketweave surface, perforations and textured underside give it a recognisable vintage sports-watch appearance.
The listed specification is FKM rubber, 130 + 80 mm strap lengths, 3.5 mm thickness and a 22 mm lug end tapering to a 20 mm buckle end. Quick-release spring bars are fitted, and the buckle is a 20 mm stainless-steel pin buckle. The manufacturer gives a wrist range of 16.5–21.5 cm; use that as a starting point and confirm fit with the case length and preferred buckle position of your watch.

For a first rubber strap, grey offers a neutral starting point. Blue or green introduces colour that can still sit comfortably with a dark dial. Red and white create stronger contrast and are worth considering when you want the strap to become part of the watch’s visual identity.
These Tropic models are a different option from the Accordion straps already familiar to Mi-Watch customers. Do not carry measurements or buckle assumptions from one range to the other.
First decision: 22 mm or 24 mm?
Lug width is the distance between the inside faces of the lugs where the strap attaches. It is independent of case diameter. A 43 mm watch does not automatically need a 24 mm strap, and an attractive colour does not make an incorrect width compatible.
- The Vanguard AG-00 uses 24 mm lugs.
- The Vanguard AG-10 is specified with 22 mm lugs.
- For other references, check the exact model specification before ordering. Models within the same collection can differ.
A 22 mm Tropic from this selection is therefore not a direct replacement for an AG-00’s 24 mm strap. Do not squeeze a wider strap into narrower lugs or accept loose gaps as a substitute for the correct fitting.
Width is the first check, not the only one. Spring-bar dimensions, clearance, fitted ends and unusual attachment systems still matter. In particular, ask us before selecting a replacement for a Nexus with its special strap insert.
Standard or XL: choose by measurements
The selection includes a 22 mm light-brown side-stitch XL and a 24 mm brown box-stitch XL. XL means a longer version within that design; it does not mean a wider strap or a universal solution for every larger wrist.
Measure your wrist, then compare the long and short sections of a strap that fits comfortably. Check where its buckle sits and whether you have spare holes in both directions. The case also occupies part of your wrist circumference, so adding the two strap lengths does not directly give the wrist size.
Ask for the exact leather strap lengths if they are not listed. Choosing an XL unnecessarily can leave an awkward excess tail; choosing too short a strap can leave you fastening at the last hole.
Match the buckle as carefully as the leather
The leather options offer brushed stainless steel, polished stainless steel, aged steel and bronze buckle choices. Brushed steel can continue the finish of a brushed case; aged steel or bronze can create a closer visual match with those case materials. Polished steel gives a brighter accent.
Check the price for the selected buckle finish and confirm what is included. If reusing a buckle you already own, match the strap’s buckle-end width and attachment, not just the width at the watch. The 22-to-20 mm taper on the Tropic is a useful reminder that the two measurements need not be the same.

Care and fitting
Keep ordinary leather out of water. Gruppo Gamma’s ownership guidance recommends changing away from leather for swimming. A rubber strap does not increase the watch’s water resistance: follow the instructions for your exact crown system and watch.
For a strap change, work on a soft surface with the appropriate tool. Quick-release bars simplify access, but both ends still need to engage securely. Check the fitting before wearing the watch. A Gruppo Gamma multi-tool is also part of the accessory selection; confirm that its fittings suit your watch and hardware, or ask a watchmaker for help.
